It's All Good Here ~ We create Hope with Words to bring out the "BLESSED" in you!

Time to Agree

on November 2, 2012

Matthew 18:19-20
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

I have been referencing the book of Philippians lately and I can see that God has a message here. Philippians 2:2 says, “Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose

God wants us to work as a team having by one mind and purpose. Agree means to be in harmony together or to be of the same mind. When professional sport teams sign a player, they are communicating an agreement that the person can help the team win games.

Given that we are in a spiritual war, shouldn’t we also incorporate teamwork? Granted, we already know who has won the battle. Yet, we still have to live day to day in the fight. An unknown author said, “There is no ‘I’ in team.” This statement is true for our prayer lives. We can spend time praying about needs and situations of our own and on our own, but what about everybody else? Can there be any victories with a team of one?

If we expect God to move in our prayers, we have to follow the instructions Jesus gave us and agree with people regarding situations. Our team should be comprised of two of more faithful people who understand the power of God and the power to be in agreement concerning prayer requests. Secondly, we need to ask the Father for what we want. We can ask for anything! The scripture says if two of us agree, we can ask for anything and our Father in Heaven will do it for us.

Wow! This sounds so simple to do, so why aren’t we doing it? There are several reasons why we are not following directions. We are afraid to be open about our situations for the fear of judgment and embarrassment. We are too prideful to let anyone know what we need or want. We do not want anybody’s handout because we can do it on our own. We cannot let people into the vulnerable places of our hearts because we will get hurt. Sadly, where there is fear, pride, and unbelief there is no faith.

Agree with me today that we can squash our fear, pride, and unbelief and truly start to see our prayers answered. When we agree about things here on earth as the scripture says, we are communicating consent to God to act on what we have asked of him.

Henry Ford said, “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Let’s work together to experience a movement in prayer like we never have before. Agreed? Speak the prayers and say the words: I agree!
